Fiona brings with her a variety of therapeutic approaches to provide counselling for adults. Fiona recently completed her Master of Counselling internship at the PCFHub and is staying on as her own counselling business.
Her journey into the mental health field began with her Psychology studies, completing a
Bachelor of Science (Psychology) in 2007. Having also worked with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) for the last 10 years, Fiona is no stranger to supporting people during dark times. Coming back to the mental health space was a natural next step in continuing a career full of purpose, hoping to have a meaningful impact in people’s lives.
Fiona has developed a special interest and passion for supporting women on their fertility journey. She has recently completed an international Fertility Counselling Postgraduate Course and a thesis on Fertility-Related Quality of Life.
Her passion for the fertility field and perinatal space also led her to become a parent supporter with SANDS Australia, supporting parents bereaved through perinatal loss. Fiona and her co-facilitators hold SANDS Support Meetings every month on the Sunshine Coast at the PCFHub.
The most important hat that Fiona wears is that of mum to her beautiful 5-year-old daughter, making her all too familiar with the challenges of modern-day motherhood.
Fiona brings with her a variety of counselling approaches. Working eclectically, she particularly likes working with creative therapies, such as painting, drawing, writing and symbol-work. She also greatly values strength-based therapies, like solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing; as well as mindfulness and meditation. She highly regards attachment theory as well as emotion-focused and self -compassion modalities.
No referral or Mental Health Care Plan is necessary to see Fiona. Please note, unfortunately Medicare do not provide rebates for Counselling sessions (unlike psychology sessions)
