Birth trauma symptoms can result from actual or perceived physical injury, psychological injury or a combination of both before, during and after birth for both the mother and partner.

We know that 1 in 3 women (and non-birthing partners) experience birth trauma feelings.

Common birth trauma feelings include:

  • Feeling powerless

  • Confused

  • Feeling abandoned

  • Fearfulness

  • Feeling unheard and dismissed

Birth trauma

These birth trauma feelings may lead to Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression and Anxiety. It can be helpful to seek psychological support with one of our perinatal psychologists or psychiatrist.
