Anita (she/her) is the founder of Alba Psychology and a Registered Psychologist with 15 years’ experience supporting clients across a range of services.


‘Alba’ is the Scottish Gaelic word for Scotland reflecting the Scottish part of Anita’s heritage. She grew up in Zimbabwe and studied in South Africa, Scotland and Australia. Her life experience across countries increased her passion to ensure that diversity is considered and respected in her therapeutic model. Anita welcomes everyone and is skilled in assisting people across the life span. 
 

Anita has supported children, young people and adults within early intervention, forensic, disability, community, inpatient and private practice settings. She also completed a Master (MSc) in Applied Psychology for Children and Young People at Edinburgh University, Scotland in 2013. Anita can assist children and young people (from age 6) with difficulties such as anger, low mood, anxiety, sleep, behavioural and social problems.


She has a collaborative approach to supporting adults manage a range of psychological difficulties including but not limited to stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, anger and poor self-esteem. Anita particularly enjoys assisting autistic children and adults. She has observed an increasing number of adults receiving diagnoses of autism later in life and can offer support to process this information, further develop social skills, and learn strategies to cope in a ‘neurotypical world’.


Anita is trained in a number of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy. She adapts her therapeutic model according to the needs of the client.
