Circle of Motherhood Group

A group for Mummas to come and connect with like-minded Mummas in a safe and nonjudgemental space as you navigate the journey of early motherhood.

This group was first created by Carla Anderson with assistance from Fiona Stark while on her Masters placement with the PCF Hub. Created initially as an online program at the start of the COVID lockdowns to reduce the social isolation that mothers were experiencing at this time. The group then evolved into a six-week in person therapeutic support group developed further by Carla, with assistance from psychologists Emilie Bull and Cassie Osborne who also facilitated in person groups.
Informed by attachment theory and focused on exploring the transitions, adjustments, emotions and challenges that being pregnant and having an infant brings. Additionally focusing on strengthening and exploring relationships (with others, yourself and your baby), to facilitate a supportive and positive parenting experience.
Some of the topics and themes include:
-
Self compassion/relationship with self
-
Looking after mum and discovering your own parenting strengths
-
Expectations in parenting and the role of internal dialogue and the past influences
-
The couple relationship and transitions in parenthood
-
Changes to the relationship with our village and how we navigate these
-
Interacting with baby and understanding baby’s internal world
Who can attend:
The group has limited spaces and is open to pregnant Mum’s and Mum’s with babies up to 12 months.
There is no out of pocket cost with mental health care plan referral.

Welcome to the Floriful Workshop: Combining Floristry, Mindfulness and Self-Care!

Join us for a workshop of creativity, relaxation and nurturing at our in-person events.

Discover the therapeutic benefits of working with flowers. Flowers elicit joy and positivity, and flower arranging can encourage mindfulness and relaxation, as well as serving as a physical reminder of these feelings, which is at the heart of the Floriful Worshops. The workshop is not about creating “perfect” works of floral art, it’s about showing up “imperfectly” and using flowers to connect with your inner creativity, connect with yourself, connect with others and most importantly focus on nurturing yourself. Then you get to take home your creation, as a little reminder to look after you.

A few years ago I gained my qualification as a florist, after I decided to do it for my own self-care, and was introduced to therapeutic horticulture and the benefits of using flowers and psychology together. This is the foundation of developing Floriful.

I am passionate about supporting people along the range of development and life stages from Perinatal (preconception, pregnancy, birth and postnatal), through to supporting parents of older children, adolescents and young adults. We know that women and mothers in particular, often don’t take the time to look after themselves, and tend not to talk about “How they really feel”, or carve out time to nurture themselves. So, we wanted to create a workshop for like-minded women at whatever stage they are at, to create an opportunity to connect socially in a safe and non-judgmental space, and to focus on exploring self-care, values, strengths, self-compassion and mindfulness through simple flower arranging. Floriful offers an alternative approach to traditional talk therapies that is engaging, creative, and social. It aims to create connections in a non-judgmental space focused on self-care, emotional wellbeing, and relationships including with your infant/child.
