“I know the bravery it takes to seek help, journey to explore our true feelings, and face our fears. I also know the benefits that taking these steps with trusted others can have. I strive to create that safe secure place for people and am always honoured to partner with them so they can gain a greater sense of wellbeing and healing, experience improved relationships and personal growth, and achieve their goals.”

Debbie is a Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience in therapeutic practice and holds a Bachelor of Science Psychology (Honours) and Masters of Psychology (Clinical) degree. She has worked with all ages across the life span and their families within varied public and non-public settings, with many years in private practice. Debbie has joined the team as she has a special interest in supporting adults and couples, particularly in how they navigate relationships.

While Debbie has extensive experience in using a variety of well-known evidence-based interventions, she has completed 3 years of training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and now specialises in this approach. She is the first on the Sunshine Coast to offer this therapy. Debbie uses ISTDP to work actively with clients to create safety that enables exploration of emotions on a deeper level to foster long-lasting change and healing. It is extremely effective for many problems including depression and anxiety, trauma, chronic pain, perinatal challenges, and relationships difficulties.

Debbie has also trained extensively in couples’ work including Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Emotion Focussed Couples Therapy. She uses her training in ISTDP throughout her couple’s work, assisting in understanding the individual within the couple. Debbie strives to help couples learn each other’s “owner’s manual”, turn to one another for comfort, better manage disagreements, enjoy each other again, and ultimately experience a fulfilling and secure relationship. She is a certified facilitator of the Circle of Security Parenting program (COSP), Gottman Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, and Gottman Bringing Baby Home, a program to help couples transition to parenting.

Debbie provides individual, couples, and family therapy sessions. Debbie provides supervision to other professionals and provides training. Debbie is a safe therapist for the LGBTQIA+ community.
